Jon Cardwell has served the Lord as a missionary to the Philippines, as pastor in California, and as a missionary-pastor to congregations in remote “bush” Alaska, among the Aleut people of King Cove, and the Yup’ik people of Scammon Bay. Since symptoms began to manifest in Scammon Bay in 2007, of what was first thought to be Lou Gehrig’s disease, Jon and his family have had to leave their beloved Yup’ik brothers and sisters in Scammon Bay for the lower 48 states. Still awaiting a final diagnosis through the VA Hospital, Jon continues to serve the Lord despite the symptoms. The congregation of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama has called him to be their pastor. Jon has humbly answered the Lord’s call and has been ministering in Alabama since January 2009.
